Conservative treatments for musculoskeletal disorders, specifically temporomandibular disorders (TMD), should always be considered as the first treatment option. Physical therapy (PT) is a well-known conservative treatment option for many musculoskeletal disorders. Unfortunately, many dental professionals are unaware of the role and treatment options that PT provides for effectively treating TMD. The purpose of this commentary is to highlight the issue of dentist being unaware of PT as a conservative option for TMD, to discuss the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for treating TMD, to briefly inform the readers of the role of PT in treating TMD, and to provide helpful resources for dentist including where to refer patients with TMD for PT.      A team is most successful when all members work together to achieve a shared goal. Conflicts occur when team members don’t know how to work together despite their differences. The ability to recognize those differences and acknowledge all of the member’s contributions to the team is crucial for success.      Physical Therapists (PTs) and Athletic Trainers (ATCs) work as a team of healthcare professionals who have a shared goal of providing athletes with the most optimal care. One should not work without the other.            PTs work alongside ATCs in a variety of clinical settings including professional, collegiate and high school athletics as well as outpatient orthopedic clinics. Statistics have shown that Anorexia Nervosa (AN) has the highest mortality rate of all mental disorders and around 24 million people in the United States are struggling with an eating disorder. 1, 2  Eating disorders are a challenging and debilitating diagnoses due to its complexity, difficulty diagnosing, multiple factors, and lack of awareness and attention. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a rise in the number of eating disorder diagnoses and many people struggling have reported an increase in their symptoms due higher levels of stress and anxiety. 1 With this spike in numbers, it is vital that eating disorders are not only diagnosed but found early to allow for proper treatment and prevent negative consequences and adverse effects that come along.
